Program Fees

1.  Application Fee - $75.00
Non-refundable fee charged when you are eligible for the program and ready to begin. 

2.  Preparation Program Institute Fee - $600  
After passing the TExES Content Test by PACT for your desired certification area, you are ready to enroll in the Preparation Program Institute and learn how to teach. Includes books, materials, TExES test prep resources, interview workshops, and TEA Technology Fee. No hidden or extra fees!  Financial aid may be available through the VA, Troops to Teachers, or College Access Loans (for Clinical Teaching).  

3.  Internship OR Clinical Teaching

  • Internship Fee - $3,650 (Probationary) - $3,850 (Intern)   
    When hired as a full-salaried teacher of record, you begin your 2-semester internship with support from your Field Supervisor.  Some schools or districts allow for payroll deduction.
    OR
  • Clinical Teaching Fee - $3,000   
    ACT Dallas or Austin will place you for clinical teaching in your Cooperating Teacher's classroom for the 14-week practicum, plus provide an ACT Field Supervisor for guidance and support.

The fees above are all that you pay directly to ACT Dallas/Austin.  No hidden charges!

     $119 TExES Content Test
The TExES Content Test for your desired grade level and subject area is taken by PACT (Pre-Admission Certification Test) prior to enrolling. Tests may have limited administration dates.  Some certification areas require additional tests.
     $119 TExES Pedagogy & Professional Responsibility (PPR) Test
This test over the art and science of teaching is usually taken after your TExES Content Exam. Test preps and resources are provided by ACT Dallas & Austin.

Fees paid to the Texas Education Agency (TEA)

** Technology Fee **
     Included in the $600 Institute Fee and collected by the Texas Education Agency.    

     $75.00 - Intern or Probationary Certificate 
Once you sign a teaching contract, you will apply and pay online for the appropriate certificate (Intern or Probationary) that is valid for your two-semester internship.  This is not required for Clinical Teachers. 
     $39 (+ $10 digital print) - Fingerprint Fee
Interns and clinical teachers must be fingerprinted and undergo background checks. 
     $78.00 - Standard Certificate
Upon successful completion of the two-semester Internship / 14-week Clinical Teaching Practicum, apply and pay online for your Standard Certificate, allowing you to teach anywhere in the state of Texas. 

Looking for Financial Aid ?

As a private alternative certification, ACT Dallas & Austin have limited sources for financial aid.

COLLEGE ACCESS LOAN through the Hinson Hazlewood Act.  This is available for candidates who will be Clinical Teaching.  For information & application:
